This bathroom felt small and dark under its low ceiling. We raised the ceiling and a roof window above the room was fitted. The extra height and natural light made the biggest difference to how the space feels.
Once we stripped the room back to the brick , we found ash and black dust behind the old wall finishes. We repaired the walls and floor, renewed the plumbing and insulated the rebuilt ceiling before plasterboarding. We then prepared and waterproofed the walk-in shower ready for tiling.
The homeowner followed the work from the start and chose the tiles and fittings herself. The small green tiles draw the eye to the shower, while the wall-hung toilet leaves the floor clear beneath it.
